We ran across a pair of American Avocets in breeding plumage foraging for food on the mudflats at low tide.
I found their technique interesting as they use their curved bills in a sweeping motion along the surface of the mud rather than the pecking type motion of most other shore birds.

Went to Barnegat Light today in the belief we would have some nice light this afternoon but the clouds just would not relent. But the Harlequins seemed more than happy to pose.
Was at the dam to photograph Bald Eagles and lo and behold this Peregrine Falcon decided to make an appearance.
